Strings Live at the Indus Valley School of Art
The Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture is a private, non-commercial, not-for-profit educational institution, chartered by the Government of Sindh in 1994 to award degrees in the fields of Fine Art, Design and Architecture. The School relies on private donations to meet its expanding needs and to maintain its academic life. Indus Valley School is in need of resources to support its different academic and administrative objectives.

A key objective is the upkeep of its iconic campus site that houses the famous Nusserwanjee Building, a more than 100 years old Architectural landmark of Karachi. Having learned that it had been sold and was to be demolished, the Founders and Trustees of IVS undertook to transplant it brick by brick from its location in Kharadar to the IVS campus and revert it as a monument to the cultural heritage of Karachi. In this they were helped by friends and philanthropists of the city. It became fully operational in 2004. Named after Karachi's philanthropist, Jamshed Nusserwanjee, the building is a symbol of our heritage and an important part of our culture.

Since the Nusserwanjee Building is built it requires special care and resources to maintain its glory. Over the years the strong saline sea winds have disturbed the facade of the site facing the Arabian Sea and the School finds it difficult to take up the cost of its maintenance.

In view of this, the School is organizing a fund raising event with ‘Strings’, at its premises on Saturday, April 21, 2012 from 08:00 pm to 11:30 midnight.

Tickets available at the reception.
